Read through Isaiah 40-48 some time and see if you can sense a mood. God is stirred, as usual, and zealous for you. He can’t stand to see you hanging out with idols, heart after the wrong helpers, misplaced trust in what ultimately does nothing for you. The Lord is so different and he wants you to know it! May he stir us all to abandon all that is false and cling to the truths we hear him say in the Word.
People say the Lord works in mysterious ways. But maybe that’s not how the Lord would say it himself. In this account with Naaman, take a look at how God uses a variety of people in Naaman’s life to demonstrate his power and mercy. Naaman will never be the same – will you? =)
What does Self-Control mean in the Bible?Self–control is listed in the Bible as one of the Fruits of the Spirit – a sign that Christ is in us. If we let our desires lead our decisions, our lives (and our bodies) can quickly spin out of control. Self–control is a discipline that God grows in us when we continually choose to die to our flesh and live in Him.
Going…going…gone. Not just the words for a home run, but what we see as the famine rages on and wipes out all the resources people have. What now? And we think the pandemic has been rough! Lord, have mercy and satisfy all our needs of body and soul! He does.

What to do with a believing woman who demonstrates her God’s love with active faith? God tested it to make her stronger. He gave her a son – “don’t get my hopes up!” – and then her son died young. Listen in and be encouraged to let God be God and do his seeking and saving thing in your own life.
This summer lesson outline is made available for you to work into your own home devotional life. As you read through the information below, please let Renae Belobraydich know if you have any questions, or if she can help make this transition easier for our Sunday School kiddos learning from home.
This Sunday’s Lesson: Gentleness
What does Gentleness mean in the Bible?Gentleness is the quality of being kind and careful. Your gentleness with a frightened stray dog will eventually convince her to let you feed and pet her. The noun gentleness is perfect for describing the way someone acts when they are soft and calm and sweet to other people.
For a heart to sing, it must be stilled and calmed from all its troubles. With so much unrest and unsettled aspects of our lives, we get tired and weary. The worst offender, though, remains the pain and burden of our own sinfulness. With deep gratitude, we turn to God and find rest in Jesus.
You’ve heard that if you say one mean thing, it takes ten positive things to compensate in relationship communication. Joseph works very hard so that his brothers will be at peace with him and with each other as he looks forward to having the family join him in Egypt. May we all be such harmonizers and peace-seekers for the Lord’s sake!
