Living Savior Lutheran Church began exploratory mission work in the Littleton area in 1995. Our focus then, and still is now, was to share the good news of God’s tender love that sent his Son to die for our sins on the cross that we might live with him forever.
We are imperfect people riddled with sin, yet so grateful for the Word of God and moved by God’s grace to serve and help our neighbors and friends here. Through a variety of efforts to build bridges to the community we hope to make connections that many more may hear about what a great God we have. We also aim to grow together as a family are supporters and encouragers in knowing, confessing and expressing God’s love.
The mission work that began here in the 1990s and continues today at Living Savior Lutheran Church was initiated by our national church body, the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS).
The WELS, characterized as theologically conservative, is the third largest Lutheran church body in America. With national offices in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, it began in 1850 when three German pastors met in Milwaukee. Today, it has grown to over 1100 congregations in North America. It has nearly 400,000 baptized members, which includes about 300,000 communicants, served by around 1000 pastors.
The synod operates four ministerial education schools: Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary, Mequon, Wisconsin; Martin Luther College, New Ulm, Minnesota; Luther Preparatory School, Watertown, Wisconsin; and Michigan Lutheran Seminary, Saginaw, Michigan.
As members of the WELS, we share with our fellow believers in our church body’s stated mission:
As men, women, and children united in faith and worship by the Word of God, the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod exists to make disciples throughout the world for time and for eternity, using the gospel in word and sacrament to win the lost for Christ and to nurture believers for lives of Christian service, all to the glory of God.
